Senior Photography Session: Maddie in a Magical Wooded Field
As a photographer, capturing the essence of a senior’s personality during their final year of high school is always a rewarding experience. It’s a time filled with milestones, transitions, and excitement for the future, and I’m so thrilled to share Maddie’s senior photo session in a stunning wooded field.
A Dreamy Location
When Maddie and I first discussed her vision for her senior photos, she mentioned that she wanted something that felt natural and serene—something that celebrated her love of nature and the beauty of the outdoors. With that in mind, I knew the perfect location: a quiet, wooded field in town of Melbourne. The area is a hidden gem, with tall trees, soft sunlight filtering through the leaves, and a dreamy, almost fairytale-like vibe.
We had the perfect weather for the session. The light was soft, with a golden glow that made everything feel magical, and there was just the right amount of breeze to give the photos that perfect, ethereal touch.
The Look
Maddie chose a soft, bohemian-inspired outfit for the session, which was perfect for the natural surroundings. She wore a flowing yellow dress , paired with a cute pair of boots that added an extra touch of country girl to the shoot. For her second outfit she had a beautiful white skirt that moved beautifully in the wind, and Maddie’s easygoing style really complemented the calm, peaceful feel of the woods. She had accessories such as her gorgeous guitar that she got one year for Christmas and some babies breath flowers to add some dimension to her photos.
Capturing the Moment
One of the things I love about working with seniors is how much each session is a reflection of who they are at that point in their lives. With Maddie, it was clear she is a free spirit with a love for adventure and the outdoors. As we moved through the field, I encouraged her to interact with her surroundings—whether it was running through the tall grass or spinning in the open space. These moments created such authentic, joyful expressions that truly captured her personality.

I also took advantage of the natural elements around us, including the tall trees that created a sense of depth and texture in the photos. The dappled light coming through the leaves made for a beautiful backdrop that highlighted Maddie’s calm and graceful demeanor. As we wrapped up the session, I knew we had created something special. The combination of the lush woods, Maddie’s effortless style, and her vibrant personality resulted in photos that felt both personal and breathtaking. The collection of images ranged from soft and serene portraits to playful, carefree shots, perfectly reflecting who Maddie is as she prepares to take the next step in her life.
Every senior session is unique, but Maddie’s session will always stand out as one of my favorites. Not just because of the beautiful location or the stunning outfits, but because of how much fun we had and how deeply connected she felt to the environment around her.
